About Carol Fogelsong......
I've had a lifelong affair with Art. I was born in 1956, in Miami,
Florida, the oldest of three sisters. I was raised in Columbus, Ohio,
where I had my first art lesson from my uncle, Daniel Shouse. It was a
lesson in one- and two-point perspective and I was seven years old. To
this day, I can never look at a set of railroad tracks without
remembering this lesson.

Being a child of the 60's, I loved to draw spaceships, planets, and go-go
dancers with swishy dresses. But when I became an adult, I put aside my
pencils and brushes in the name of making a "Real Living." I worked for
an airline, a railroad, and several government consultants as a computer
programmer and analyst. One day, I woke up and found myself
middle-aged and grumpy. A friend told me to go back to the things that I
loved as a child. I found my first love, Art, and found that Art forgave
me and still loved me back.

Now, me and Art are never separated. I've studied at the Art League
School in Alexandria, Virginia and the Corcoran School of Art in
Washington DC. I've been blessed to have studied under many talented
and supportive teachers, such as Pat Barron, J. Lea Lansaw, Joe Spollen,
Bet Borgeson, Michael Chesley Johnson and Sara Linda Poly. I'm a
Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and was
juried into their 1997, 1999, and 2001 International Exhibitions. During
my years as a programmer, I learned a thing or two about hard work and
perseverance and am now bringing that to my work as an artist.

I'm a member of The Vienna Arts Society, The Mid-Atlantic Plein-Air
Painting Association, and The Colored Pencil Society of America. I'm
married to George Vassallo, a writer. We live in Alexandria, Virginia
with our three cats, Clara, Wendy, and Whisper.
